Learning to Code
Computers are everywhere, but fewer schools teach computer science than they did 10 years ago.  Today, only 1 out of 10 schools in America teaches computer programming.  Girls and minorities are severely underrepresented. Good news is, we are on our way to change this.

This year, here at Avondale Elementary School District (AESD), we are pushing our students and our technology to the limits. We are going above and beyond to make our students college and career ready by teaching computer programming (coding) at every school and to every age. Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg may have started programming in middle school but our students are starting in Kindergarten!

Our new coding curriculum is a statement that today’s generation of students are ready to learn critical skills for 21st century success.  Students learn how to code in a blended learning environment that allows them to progress at their own pace.

If you want your student to attend the only elementary school district in Arizona to teach all students how to code, you will have to send them to AESD.
